Teenagers’ Manners (akhlak) and Internet!

Wednesday 11 April 2012

Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and Blog are all latest social networking that connects one with another. All these were created to help people, to make their job easier, to ease them to contact their family and friends. Yet, there is still misuse of them. Teenagers nowadays use all the facilities wrongly.

Islam itself does not prohibit the use of all kinds of social networking. Islam allows it as long as the intention to use the networking is a good one. Nevertheless, when the intention is to do or to watch bad things, the hukm of using it becomes prohibited.

The misuse has lead to many serious illegal wrongs! Among them are robbery, theft, rape and adultery. What is being more frightening is that Muslim teenagers are the majority of people who get influenced by the internet. This situation can severely damage Islamic image to the eye of the world!!

Teenagers are people that can be easily influenced by their environment. They like to try new things and make their life an adventure one. This is the reason that caused them to do things without thinking it through. This motivates them to commit unlawful acts that are forbidden by syariah.

Although the immoral act now is very severe, but thing is not all at lost. We can still make immediate actions to counter this disease. One of the ways to solve this problem is by tackling the nearest person to the teenagers that is their family. The parents and siblings must be aware of the problematic teenagers. They must understand and guide these teenagers and give them proper Islamic education and not just blame them for their mistakes.

The government must design a program that is effective enough to attract these teenagers so that they can go back to the best path that is Islam. The media must control the kind of program that is shown to the public. The program that have explicit content must be censored or not to be shown at all. The websites that are created have to be monitored by the government, not to the extent that can invade the privacy of the internet user but only to manage the things that is shown to the public as the internet is main medium for information nowadays.

Time has come for Islam to rise back to its glorious age again, if it is not up to us Muslims, then who is going to help us to gain back our former glory. If all of the Islamic government in the world does not realize that these teenagers are the hope of the future of Islam then the future of our beloved religion is at lost. Therefore let us join forces to help solve this problem and improve our way of living so that we can all together enter the Jannah. InsyaAllah……
